Hi Friends! 🏖️
As we approach 2021’s midpoint, the months of May and June have been a very busy and productive time for Develop for Good.
In this newsletter, we’ll provide you with some updates on Develop for Good and give you some insight into what the last few months have looked like for us!
Our Updated Statistics 📈
As we continue to grow and expand our mission for social good, we wanted to share some of our updated stats, below are some highlights!
Project Case Study Highlights 💫
As we close off our Winter Cycle and begin our Summer Cycle, we would like to recognize the talent and commitment from our volunteers this cycle and are proud to highlight their work.
The World Bank: Leveraging Data for Equality — Visualizing and Analyzing Geospatial Shapefiles
This project visualized and analyzed multiple historical survey data sets and geospatial shapefiles in Tableau. The end goal was for our users (governmental institutions, economists, statisticians, etc.) to have a tool that could visualize poverty using as much relevant data as possible to make decisions regarding public policy.*
“We wanted to create a tool that could easily filter data by year while simultaneously providing context about what was being visualized.”
The Team: Emily Xu (UC Berkeley ‘21), Ankur Jain (UC Berkeley ‘21), Mina Sultana Mahmood (Stanford ‘21), Tina Wong (Stony Brook ‘22), Xinyu Hu (Stanford ‘22), Zain Asghar (Brown ‘22)

CARE Crowdfunding for Ecosystem Services - Website Prototype
The team used Adobe XD to create a website redesign that features a Donate, Advocate and Educate Page. On the landing page, there are stories shared in the form of videos and a map to make it more compelling to audiences to learn more and get involved. The Donate Page allows users to contribute to and learn more about specific projects or even to make a general donation; they are also able to see how much money has already been raised towards the cause and customize donation amounts. The Advocate Page allows the user to sign petitions that help make an impact on more than just an individual level, while the Educate Page guides the user to consider lifestyle changes that can help.
The Team: Sanchita Jalan (Columbia ’23), Wanli Wang (UIUC ’18), Sindura Sriram (Brown ’21)
One Community — Website Redesign
This project required a complete website redesign — with the optimal website-building tool — for One Community. The design team added new features that are approved by the client — such as a volunteer page, events page, and organization highlights. The new website includes all information from the previous website and encourages website visitors to get involved with One Community. The redesigned website is also easy for the One Community board to edit and maintain.
The Team: Vanessa Perez-Robles (Dartmouth ’23), Ankita Bantey (UT Dallas ‘22), Kaelyn Ong (Stanford ‘23), Fiona Wong (UC San Diego ‘20), Nia Page (UC San Diego ‘21), Chae Bin Park (Georgia Tech ‘21)
