Lit Path: Redesigning and engineering a full stack website for organizational growth
Lit Path’s purpose is to "light the path to recovery" through partial scholarships for psychotherapy with certified professionals. They help make recovery therapy more affordable for everyone. To upgrade the Lit Path website, the Develop for Good team successfully improved the information architecture, user experience, visual consistency, and brand identity of the main pages before translating them into a dynamic React web app. The result? A website that is easily navigable and designed to increase submissions for therapist applications and donation conversions.

What the nonprofit client has to say
“This amazing team came together and raised the bar to a professional level that delivered more than we could have hoped for on our project. Our small nonprofit would never have been able to afford this amount and level of work without DFG and these incredible volunteers. It was unbelievable to us that volunteers would put forth the time and effort our team made. There were several weeks where many of us were in touch numerous times every day. That communication and effort paid off in spades. They clearly really cared about what they were doing and the impact it would have. Our DFG team handled challenges together with a level of maturity that some veterans in the development business are unable to demonstrate. If we could afford it, we would hire every one of them. They are determined and dedicated workers that will undoubtedly go far in their careers. Words truly cannot express the gratitude we have for DFG and for every one of our DFG team members who showed up for our cause and gave their best throughout the whole project. THANK YOU!!!!” - Tamara D., Co-founder of Lit Path
Youth TimeBanking (YTB Global): Creating one redesigned website from two separate websites
YTB Global is a nonprofit focused on creating youth-adult partnerships through time banking. Youth are encouraged to build social connections, earn time credits, and then receive resources for their community contributions. The organization originally used two separate websites to communicate about their nonprofit. The Develop for Good team successfully created a single redesigned website in EditorX that unified both websites.
The Team
Product Manager: Alessandra M. (Northwestern ‘25)
Design Manager: Lauren B. (Northwestern ‘24)
Designers: Ashley C. (DesignLab ‘22), Bonnie H. (Alberta ‘23), Eeman E. (Sheridan ‘24), Katelyn J. (UC Berkeley ‘22), Owen C. (Brown ‘25)
Team Mentor: Alex “Q” D. (Product Manager @ Atlassian)
What the nonprofit client has to say
“YTB Global is a better nonprofit because of our Sum23 project with Develop For Good. We learned about useful resources, we connected with two other nonprofit leaders to mutual benefit, we learned technology (Slack, CMS, Editor X, Wix Email Marketing, SEO, Cookie Consent, GDPR), we upgraded our web platform, and enjoyed working with the DFG Design Team. And we admired and learned from the role modeling of effective technology applications by the DFG Executive Team and precision advice from the industry mentor.”
- Jerome S., Founder-Head of YTB Global
What’s it like to mentor college students at Develop for Good? 👥
If you’re a professional in tech and interested in donating your skills to both diverse aspiring technologists and a nonprofit…listen up!
Adam C. is a Software Engineer at Amazon and was one of our amazing Summer 2023 industry mentors. During the past 16 weeks, he helped his mentee, a Computer Science college student, think strategically about implementing the technical features in his nonprofit project, as well as his future career plans.
“Personally, [mentoring] convinced me to volunteer my skills to nonprofits in the future, and I really encourage other software engineers to join Develop for Good if you want to make an impact on the planet and on underserved communities.”

“I'd like to share that this experience marked my first venture into the real world, and it truly was a wonderful journey. Collaborating with teammates from diverse countries and time zones was both enriching and challenging…This journey has been a tremendous learning curve for me. I've not only gained knowledge but also formed connections with new people. Reflecting on our initial client meeting, where I battled anxiety, it's heartening to acknowledge how far I've come. Over time, I developed close bonds with the team, engaging in meaningful one-on-one conversations. I want to extend my gratitude to Develop for Good for not only providing me with an incredible opportunity but also for helping me break out of my shell and grow as an individual. Thank you."

"As I reflect upon my experience as a designer at DFG, I am filled with gratitude for the invaluable lessons and growth that this opportunity has brought into my life. Over the course of the summer, I had the privilege to work closely with a non-profit organization whose mission deeply resonated with me. As an interaction designer, I was entrusted with the responsibility of enhancing the digital experience for their target audience and stakeholders. This role allowed me to blend my passion for design with my desire to impact a non-profit organization in a meaningful way. "
